Every week DERRICK Comedy presents our free live stand-up show, THIS IS NEW YORK, in Queens. And this week is no exception.
In approximately six months Long Island City is going to be the coolest place in the world, but as of now, it’s a bit unknown. Let’s address this right now:
1) Long Island City is not on Long Island. It is, in fact, just one stop outside of Brooklyn and one stop outside of Manhattan in Queens.
2) It rules.
Everybody clear? Great. Let’s move on. This week at TINY, our guests will be:
Aaron Glazer
Matt Little
Matt McCarthy
Along with (as always) stand-up from Dominic, Donald, and DC (actually, DC won’t be here this week. But he usually does stuff.)
And it’s all free. And every audience member gets one free drink. No joke. The show is at The Creek, 10-93 Jackson Ave, in Long Island City, 9 PM on Sunday the 19th, and every Sunday. See you there, killer.
At the UCB theatre on Saturday, Oct 11th, we have another installment of the anything goes/improv show “Street Legal”. It will be awesome. We promise.
Also on the following day, Sunday, we have our always FREE weekly stand - up show, “This is New York”, at The Creek in Long Island City (we know it sounds far away, but it’s really close to the city. It’s the first stop in Queens right off the 7 train) but one cool thing about this Sunday’s show is that everyone gets ONE FREE DRINK!!! How sick is that?
The trailer for our first full-length feature film, Mystery Team, is up.
Please send it to everyone you know, blog it, Digg it, etc. if you enjoy it. You would be doing us a huge, huge favor, and you would have a huge hand in making this movie a success.
Holy crap! For the second year in a row, 30 Rock, the show Donald writes for, won an Emmy for Best Outstanding Comedy Series. Above, the man himself, with the statue itself.
Congrats to Donald, and if you’re not watching 30 Rock…WATCH 30 ROCK. Season Two comes out on DVD October 7th. Buy them shits!
Also: our Mystery Team co-star Aubrey Plaza was in a Judd Apatow comedy showcase out west alongside Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, and Jonah Hill. Pictures here. Real talk.
And just like that, “Mystery Team,” the Derrick movie, is done shooting. Above, our talented, and amazing crew is pictured at the wrap party. They were some hard-working wonder-people and we couldn’t have done it without them. But we had them, so WE DID IT!
What happens now? The post-production process: Dan edits, Donald composes the music. The color is tweaked and the sound is edited. It is a grueling process getting it from a bunch of footage to a watchable, funny movie. Then, once it’s done, we take it around and find somebody who wants to release it. It’s going to be a while, but we are excited about the product, and we think you’re going to like it.
In the meantime, thanks for continuing to support us, send our videos to your friends, buy our merch, and see our live shows. Speaking of which, we’ve got a show coming up this Saturday at midnight in New York: more info here.
MYSTERY GANG MYSTERY TEAM INSIDER INFO #1:“Mystery Gang” is gone. We changed the name. So that tattoo you got of a flaming “Mystery Gang” on your neck is now incorrect as well as ill conceived. The movie is now officially titled “Mystery Team”. The first day of shooting went very well. The crew was on point, the shots looked good, we really couldn’t have asked for a better day to start on. As the weeks go on, we’ll have more info about the movie and maybe a pic here and there to hold you over. If you’re good.Sweet. More soon.
