And just like that, “Mystery Team,” the Derrick movie, is done shooting. Above, our talented, and amazing crew is pictured at the wrap party. They were some hard-working wonder-people and we couldn’t have done it without them. But we had them, so WE DID IT!

What happens now? The post-production process: Dan edits, Donald composes the music. The color is tweaked and the sound is edited. It is a grueling process getting it from a bunch of footage to a watchable, funny movie. Then, once it’s done, we take it around and find somebody who wants to release it. It’s going to be a while, but we are excited about the product, and we think you’re going to like it.

In the meantime, thanks for continuing to support us, send our videos to your friends, buy our merch, and see our live shows. Speaking of which, we’ve got a show coming up this Saturday at midnight in New York: more info here.

 MYSTERY GANG  MYSTERY TEAM INSIDER INFO #1: “Mystery Gang” is gone.  We changed the name.  So that tattoo you got of a flaming “Mystery Gang” on your neck is now incorrect as well as ill conceived. The movie is now officially titled “Mystery Team”.   The first day of shooting went very well.  The crew was on point, the shots looked good, we really couldn’t have asked for a better day to start on.  As the weeks go on, we’ll have more info about the movie and maybe a pic here and there to hold you over.  If you’re good.Sweet.  More soon. 

Hey all! Derrick is currently in New Hampshire gearing up to film “Mystery Gang,” our first full-length feature. We’ve been up here a couple weeks doing pre-production and the actual shoot will begin a week from now. We could not be more tired, nor more excited. We have the support of a killer crew and lots of awesome local people, and we’ll be busting our ass to get this movie in front of your eyes as soon as humanly possible.

Actually, I’ve just become interested in sketch again after years of not doing it. Human Giant and Derrick Comedy, both from New York, are troupes we all like.

The John Hopkins show this weekend is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!!! You do not need to be a Johns Hopkins student to attend!

If you’re in the Baltimore area, it only cost $5 to see us dick around LIVE on stage. What a bargain! Seriously,this is gonna be huge. Come on out and meet us. Ya-dig? B-more! B-more! B-more! Hoooooo!!!

Also, we’d like to thank everyone who came out to see us in Saratoga last weekend at the National College Comedy Festival at Skidmore College. We played to a sold out crowd and you guys were the best. Thanks for the awesome show and the oh-so sick after party. Hope to see you all again soon.

As some of you may have noticed, there’s been a slowdown in our
production of videos. We’ve actually gotten a lot of emails, MySpace messages, and Facebook wall posts asking “When is your new video coming out? Stop being turds!” and “Why is it taking so long for the new videos? You guys are totally being turds by holding out on the videos,” and simply, “TURDS!!!” Well, the truth is we’ve been working on a project that we’re really excited about and are now ready to announce.

In May of this year we’ll start filming a feature length movie written, directed, and produced entirely by the DERRICK comedy team. (Tah-dah bitches! You thought we fell off!)

The script is written and being re-written as you read this. We’ll be casting, location scouting, the whole nine yards, all this month.

So what does this mean as far as seeing new sketches on the site? Well, that’s the bad news. We can’t say that we’ll be kicking out as many videos as we had been a year ago. The movie will be monopolizing all of our free time since we want it to be the awesomest movie ever made. We will try our best to put out a little content, but we really can’t even promise that. There will be a bit of a drought for some time, unfortunately.

But the good news is that we will constantly be updating the news section of the DERRICK site with updates on the movie and any insight we can wing at you. You guys are the reason we’re actually able to make this thing, so we want to keep you informed.

If you’ve ever bought one of our t-shirts, come to one of our live shows, left a comment, or forwarded one of our videos to your cousin, you helped us get to a place where we can step back from our lives for a few months and create a full-length comedy feature film, and we are eternally grateful for that. Now we’re asking you to keep the faith for a while as we undertake the next great DERRICK adventure.

We really appreciate all the support and we can’t wait to start filming.
